Born first of the line of Blackmyre, James Blackmyre has carried on his life as is expected of his class…brutishly. The Blackmyres were one of many families landed and raised to the rank of Dukedom in return for valor and service against the rebellion three generations prior. Unused to peace, unused to wealth, the Blackmyres have gained a quiet local reputation for opportunism, whoring and impropriety. The current Duke Blackmyre, frustrated with his son’s predisposition for indolence, sent young James south with a purchased officer’s billing in the king’s army.

An unfortunate altercation at the Inn of Kitsden found James kept, unconscious and wounded, in the hold of Fort Kitsden.
